On Friday, September 9, the Chamber of Industry of Guatemala -CIG- hosted the XVII Industrial Congress: “From Reactivation to Economic Acceleration.” The event’s goal was to urge Guatemalan businesses to pursue economic acceleration in order to preserve comprehensive, dynamic, and sustainable growth.
It brings together sectors that believe that industry has the greatest potential to generate development and wealth for a country, that formal industry is produced in accordance with good labor, environmental, and manufacturing practices, and that it represents employment opportunities, wealth, and development for the country, and that the importance of the law in changing the existing clientelist model is fully recognized.
The conference covered a wide range of themes, including logistics and infrastructure, investment prospects and reinvestment in Guatemala, innovation and entrepreneurship, the circular economy, and family companies, among others.
There was a discussion on investment and reinvestment opportunities in Guatemala in which the director of the Invest Guatemala Agency, María Eugenia Tabush, participated, explaining the importance of working together between the private sector, public, and academia to achieve real development of the country; she also mentioned that there is still a long way to go, but the country is working hard to provide Guatemalans with a better quality of life through the generation of formal jobs.
